The White House and President Trump offered condolences today to the victims of the New Zealand terror attack. 49 people were killed when terrorists attacked a mosque and an Islamic center in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is the deadliest terror attack in New Zealand’s history.

The attack was carried out by a white supremacist intent on attacking the town’s Muslim population. The shooting began at the Al Noor Mosque, where the deranged terrorist livestreamed 16 minutes of the attack onto Facebook. A second attack occured at the Linwood Islamic Centre, about three miles away from the mosque.

Three suspects appear to have been taken into police custody in the aftermath of the attack. The individual believed to have carried out the attack appears to have posted a manifesto online. According to the manifesto, the attacker was motivated by his bigotry to carry out the attacks.

The shooter’s alleged manifesto also describes himself as an “eco-fascist,” concerned about global warming. The demented author goes on to say his views align with those of the Communist Party of China. The manifesto also praises President Trump for his perceived views on race, though the author rejects Trump as a leader.

Critics of President Trump were quick to highlight the shooter’s alleged attitude toward the president’s views on race. However, others have rejected the entire narrative that the president has ever made racist comments. Supporters of the president were also quick to note that the shooter’s alleged manifesto does not describe himself as a conservative or Trump supporter.

President Trump had this to say on Twitter earlier today about the attack:

“My warmest sympathy and best wishes goes out to the people of New Zealand after the horrible massacre in the Mosques. 49 innocent people have so senselessly died, with so many more seriously injured. The U.S. stands by New Zealand for anything we can do. God bless all!”
