On Thursday, Justice Department officials announced that the US had seized a North Korean cargo ship suspected of violating economic sanctions. The ship was intercepted as it was headed toward Indonesia. The announcement was made by the Justice Department shortly after the North Korean military test-fired another two short-range missiles toward the sea.

The ship recently arrived in American Samoa, where it will face further inspections. It took about three weeks for the North Korean ship to arrive at its destination from Indonesia. The US is expected to sell the ship or use it as a training environment for the military.

The North Korean ship, called the Wise Honest, is the county’s second-largest for transporting bulk cargo. This is the first time the United States has seized a North Korean ship for violating sanctions.

Relations between the United States and North Korea appear to have soured following the second summit between the leaders of the two nations. On the second day of the event, the United States announced they would be ending the summit early due to the fact that an agreement was not reached. Since then, it seems North Korea is making some provocative moves with the intention of keeping the world’s attention on the region.
