Yesterday afternoon, First Lady Melania Trump announced that Stephanie Grisham will be taking over as White House Press Secretary and Communications Director. Grisham began working for the Trump presidential campaign in 2015 and has been appointed to multiple positions in the administration since then. She was presently serving as Melania Trump’s spokeswoman.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently revealed earlier that she would be resigning from her position as press secretary at the end of the month. Perhaps the most memorable aspect of Sanders’ tenure as press secretary was her often contentious relationship with the press. It will be interesting to see if  Grisham is able to cultivate a warmer relationship with the media than former press secretaries Sanders or Sean Spicer.

Grisham got her start in politics working for Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne and other Republicans in the state. In 2012, she worked for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. Grisham was working with Republicans in the Arizona House of Representatives when she left for a position in the 2016 Trump campaign.

Former press secretary Sanders says she is happy to have another mother filling the role of press secretary. Grisham is divorced with two sons.
