Senator Amy Klobuchar appeared on Fox News earlier this month for a town hall event. Klobuchar is the second candidate to appear on the network for a town hall following the DNC’s decision to ban Fox News from conducting any of the 2020 Democratic debates. Bernie Sanders was the first candidate to appear on the network, earning the highest ratings of any town hall event so far this year.

Senator Klobuchar brought in about 1.6 million viewers, leading the time slot in viewers for all cable news. However, her ratings were significantly lower than Bernie Sanders. The senator from Vermont brought in nearly 2.6 million viewers. The difference in views of the event on YouTube were even more stark, with Sanders vastly in the lead.

Klobuchar likely benefited quite a bit from the publicity, as she has been consistently polling at less than 2 percent among the 2020 Democratic contenders. Many of the Democratic candidates expressed interest in participating in the Fox News town halls following the success of Bernie Sanders event. Not all the candidates were as welcoming, though. Elizabeth Warren strongly condemned Fox News while speaking to reporters about her refusal to appear on the network.

Pete Buttigieg is the next candidate set to appear on the network for a town hall event. His appearance is scheduled for Sunday at 7 PM, and the event will be moderated by Chris Wallace. Both Sanders’ and Klobuchar’s events were held on weekdays, with Buttigieg’s the first to be held on a weekend.
