American rapper A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault in Sweden, although the musician claims he was acting in self defense. According to a recent report from the New York Times, the alleged victim is Mustafa Jafari, an immigrant from Afghanistan. Video taken earlier that day appears to support Rocky’s claim of self defense, as the alleged victim repeatedly confronts the musician and his entourage in Sockholm.

Rocky and two of his associates have been charged in connection with the brawl. Video taken before the fight shows two men, of seemingly Middle Eastern descent, continually harassing Rocky and his colleagues. In the preceding videos, a women claims the two men sexually assaulted her and her friend. One of the men is Jafari, the alleged victim of the attack.

A video taken right before the scuffle shows Jafari throwing headphones at the group of Americans. In videos obtained by TMZ, three individuals can be seen hitting Jafari after he’s on the ground. However, Jafari still appears aggressive toward the group after he has fallen to the ground.

Swedish authorities claim one of the Americans used a glass bottle during the fight. Rocky’s attorney, Slobodan Jovicic, held a press conference earlier today. However, as many viewers noted, the attorney’s defense of his client seemed absolutely abysmal by American standards. Rocky will be given a three-day trial next week.

President Trump went after Sweden on Twitter in response to the charges against Rocky. The president demanded Sweden return Rocky and focus on “its real crime problem.” In an earlier tweet, the president said he watched videos of the incident for himself. “[A$AP Rocky] was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly,” President Trump wrote on Twitter.
