Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s Fox News town hall appears to be another victory for the news network and the participants. The event was held on Sunday, June 2, at the same time CNN was hosting a town hall for three other candidates. The Fox News event attracted more than twice the viewers of CNN.

More than 800,000 viewers tuned in to watch Gillibrand on Fox News. However, it was the smallest audience of any Fox News Democratic town hall so far.

Bernie Sanders’ Fox News event was the most watched town hall across all networks with nearly 2.6 million viewers. Sanders only drew around half the ratings when he appeared on CNN for a similar town hall event shortly after his appearance on Fox.

About 1.6 million viewers tuned in to Amy Klobuchar’s Fox News town hall. Although, both Klobachar and Sanders benefited from their events airing on weeknights.

As was the case with Gillibrand, Pete Buttigieg’s appearance on the network was also held on a Sunday. Buttigieg attracted more viewers, with about 1.1 million watching. Gillibrand has been consistently polling at less than one percent, which may also explain why her ratings were below Buttigieg’s.

Perhaps the most noteworthy moment of the town hall event came when Gillibrand claimed the National Rifle Association was the worst organization in the country. An interesting exchange also took place between Gillibrand and moderator Chris Wallace when the politician began criticizing the Fox News channel.

Gillibrand has posted clips of the town hall to her Twitter account several times since the event aired. It’s unclear if Gillibrand will be polling well enough to participate in the first Democratic Debate later this month, though it seems likely she will appear. Democratic candidate Julian is set to appear for a Fox News town hall on June 13.
