Former FBI Director James Comey is clearly unhappy with statements being made by Attorney General William Barr. Comey took to Twitter earlier this month following Barr’s appearance for an interview on CBS. Comey criticized the attorney general for his suggestion that the investigation in to alleged collusion between Russia and the 2016 Trump campaign may have had inappropriate origins.

It wasn’t the first time Barr has accused federal law enforcement of acting inappropriately throughout their investigation of President Trump and his campaign.  Barr kicked off the controversy in April when he told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he believed “spying did occur” against the Trump campaign. Barr has since stated that he intends to conduct a full investigation in to the matter.

Barr recently told CBS News, “I think the activities were undertaken by a small group at the top which is one of the… probably one of the mistakes that has been made instead of running this as a normal bureau investigation or counterintelligence investigation. It was done by the executives at the senior level, out of headquarters.”

Comey responded to the attorney general’s CBS interview, posting this to his Twitter account:

“Bill Barr on CBS offers no facts. An AG should not be echoing conspiracy theories. He should gather facts and show them. That is what Justice is about.”

This isn’t the first time Comey has attacked Attorney General Barr on Twitter. Comey has previously accused Barr of “sliming” the justice department with his comments, going on to accuse him of behaving like a spokesperson for President Trump.

Comey followed that tweet up with another criticizing the attorney general just a few days later. This time around, Comey claimed the attorney general’s investigation in to the origins of the Russia probe could potentially cause a dereliction of duty among FBI agents and analysts.
