CNN: Allegations Involving the President and Trump Tower Meeting Were Untrue

CNN is reporting that three of their sources have confirmed the phone calls made by Donald Trump Jr prior to his 2016 Trump Tower meeting were not to his father. Many critics of President Trump have alleged that his son spoke with him on the phone prior to the meeting. The allegations center around a “blocked” number in Trump Jr’s call log.

As President Trump often uses blocked numbers during his phone calls, critics suggested he may have been the “mystery caller.” However, according to CNN’s sources, the blocked phone numbers belong to two of Trump Jr’s business associates. The two associates were not named in CNN report.

Donald Trump Jr, Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort met with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower New York in 2016. The meeting concerned opposition research and potentially obtaining damaging information against Hillary Clinton. Instead, Trump Jr claims the meeting did not result in any useful information and lasted less than 20 minutes.

President Trump had this to say on Twitter about CNN’s report:

“Just out: The big deal, very mysterious Don jr telephone calls, after the innocent Trump Tower meeting, that the media & Dems said were made to his father (me), were just conclusively found NOT to be made to me. They were made to friends & business associates of Don. Really sad!”

A couple hours after that tweet, the president took to Twitter again to call the Special Counsel investigation a witch hunt.
